The Score is the third book in the Off-Campus series. I love the first two books so I was really waiting for this one and it didn’t disappoint.
This book centres around Hannah’s roommate, Allie Hayes and Garrett’s teammate, Dean Heyward-Di Laurentis. Btw, we met Hannah and Garrett on The Deal, in case you haven’t read the series. Allie is fresh out of a breakup and looking to stay single, while Dean is enjoying every bit of his college experience without any strings attached. One night, Allie stayed over at the guy’s house because she wanted to avoid her ex-boyfriend. She met the notorious Dean although she wasn’t interested. She’s a relationship kinda girl; she doesn’t do casual sex. However, a chance hookup throws their worlds into chaos. What starts as a one-night stand quickly becomes much more, as both Allie and Dean struggle to navigate their undeniable chemistry and the complications of their personal lives.
The Score was the third Elle Kennedy book I read and it was apparent from the start that she’s great at creating relatable and multifaceted characters. Allie is an endearing mix of vulnerability and strength, determined to decide and go after what she wants despite the emotional turmoil following her breakup. Dean, on the other hand, was always the manwhore of the group. However, you’ll get to meet the more sensitive and deep side of him despite the carefree exterior.
In terms of the relationship between the two, even though it starts with sex, there was no insta-love. I love that we get to see how the two fall for each other. There was also no crazy drama between the two before they finally got together. They just really took time to know each other and finally be together. When they do, I can’t help but smile and swoon and say FINALLY because I know how much they both really like each other.
Other than romance, we get to see their characters grow. Allie had to deal with her future after college. Dean went through a hard time and I hate the way he deals with it but I like how he owned up to his mistakes. The experiences they went through are things that happen or could happen in real college experience. Also, the bromance between the guys is another plus point for this book. It’s nice to see Dean, Logan, Garrett and Tuck who live together in a house are always loyal to each other and have each other’s back. They are also hilarious together. I’ve highlighted some of their conversations because they’re so funny.
My favourite thing about the book is the banter. Elle Kennedy is the queen of banter. I couldn’t help but chuckle and laugh at some of the lines. Dean and Allie have mean and amusing banter it’s really entertaining. There is also a good balance of spicy romance and genuine emotional growth. The Score really has it all!
From many books I’ve read about college romance, this is definitely in the top 10. It will make you laugh, swoon, and cry. I love this book and I think everyone should read it. If you’re looking for a new adult book to read, The Score is the one to pick up!

Synopsis
He knows how to score, on and off the ice
Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn’t have the first clue about what she’s going to do after college. To make matters worse, she’s nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di-Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won’t include the king of one-night stands.
It’ll take more than flashy moves to win her over
Dean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls…he’s a ladies man, all right, and he’s yet to meet a woman who’s immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world—and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It’s not over until he says it’s over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it’s time to stop focusing on scoring…and shoot for love.
