Title: The Goal (Off-Campus #4)
Author: Elle Kennedy
Published: September 26th 2016
She’s good at achieving her goals…
College senior Sabrina James has her whole future planned out: graduate from college, kick butt in law school, and land a high-paying job at a cutthroat firm. Her path to escaping her shameful past certainly doesn’t include a gorgeous hockey player who believes in love at first sight. One night of sizzling heat and surprising tenderness is all she’s willing to give John Tucker, but sometimes, one night is all it takes for your entire life to change.
But the game just got a whole lot more complicated
Tucker believes being a team player is as important as being the star. On the ice, he’s fine staying out of the spotlight, but when it comes to becoming a daddy at the age of twenty-two, he refuses to be a bench warmer. It doesn’t hurt that the soon-to-be mother of his child is beautiful, whip-smart, and keeps him on his toes. The problem is, Sabrina’s heart is locked up tight, and the fiery brunette is too stubborn to accept his help. If he wants a life with the woman of his dreams, he’ll have to convince her that some goals can only be made with an assist.
The Goal by Elle Kennedy – Book Review
I totally forgot the release date of the book. So when my friend asked if I’ve read this book, I instantly downloaded the book to my Kindle and get on with reading it.
From the last book, The Score, we learned that Tucker got Sabrina James pregnant. This book tells us the details of their relationship from the very beginning.
Now, the characters. Let’s start with Tucker. How do I begin?! I’ve loved Tucker since the first book. He has always been the jokester throughout the series. But in this one? SWOON. Tucker is patient, loyal, kind, considerate, all-in-all a gentleman. His patience with Sabrina is a big part of him that I love.
Sabrina James came across as the most complex heroine in this series. She may seem bitchy but it is because she is extremely determined. She didn’t have a happy childhood so she is working hard to get out of the shit hole she’s in.
Their attitude toward the relationship is extremely chill. The attraction is there and the chemistry is insane. During Sabrina’s pregnancy and they put the child first before their relationship. Sabrina tried so hard to resist her feelings and focus on her pregnancy. Tucker, being the responsible guy that he is, was by her side throughout the pregnancy without forcing his feeling. It’s nice to see how both can be adults about it and made it work. Sabrina tries her best to distance herself from Tucker though at the end his persistence won her over. I think the lack of drama caused by miscommunication (which happens in almost every YA/NA book I’ve read in my life) makes this relationship feels very fresh. The fact that these two are very adult in their attitude and decisions made me root for them so hard.
We also got to see a glimpse of the previous characters. Dean, who if you read the previous book, was not exactly friend with Sabrina. I did expect him to be harsh on her but maybe because we got to know Sabrina, you can’t help but to feel defensive over her and wish that Dean could be nicer and just back off. Logan and Garrett were hilarious. The part where the two competed to be godfather was brilliant!
All in all, compared to the other three, this one has an easy flow to it. It’s also probably the hottest book in the series. Pretty sure my face turned read reading certain parts of the book. I heard that this is the last book in the series and if it’s true, this book is definitely a great finale!
“Because love is the ultimate goal. It’s not the one I had strived for, but I was lucky enough, so damn lucky, to achieve it”
Ps. I want a Fitzy x Summer book, please!
