This blog post is long overdue! I was kindly nominated by Cristina from My Tiny Obsessions back in June 🙈 So without further ado, here are my answers!
A BOOK STARRING A LESBIAN CHARACTER
Everything Leads To You – Nina LaCour
I haven’t read the book yet but it is on my tbr list
A BOOK WITH A MUSLIM PROTAGONIST
The Rainbow Troops – Andrea Hirata
It is an Indonesian book that was translated into English later on. The characters in the book are Muslims.
A BOOK SET IN LATIN AMERICA
Unfortunately, I can’t remember if I’ve read any book set in Latin America 🙈
A BOOK ABOUT A PERSON WITH A DISABILITY
Maybe Someday – Colleen Hoover
One of my favourite NA book ever, the main male character Ridge, is a deaf musician
A SCIENCE FICTION OR FANTASY BOOK WITH A POC PROTAGONIST
Cinder – Marissa Meyer
I admitted that I haven’t read many fantasy or science fiction where the protagonist is a POC. Cinder was the first book to pop in my head when I read the question.
A BOOK WRITTEN BY AN INDIGENOUS OR NATIVE AUTHOR
Sadly, I haven’t read any book written by an indigenous or native author either
A BOOK SET IN SOUTH ASIA
Life of Pi – Yann Martel
Again, the only book set in South Asia I could think of was Life of Pi
A BOOK WITH BIRACIAL PROTAGONIST
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before – Jenny Han
It is probably the first book I read where the main character is biracial. Lara Jean is half white, half Korean. Another book that has biracial protagonist that I’ve read, or currently reading, is Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon. Maddy is half African American, half Japanese. It’s really cool to see biracial protagonists in novels because it’s so rare.
A BOOK STARRING A TRANSGENDER CHARACTER OR TRANSGENDER ISSUE
George – Alex Gino
This is another book that is actually on my tbr list 🙂
From this post, I can conclude that I don’t think I’ve read enough variations of books. I definitely need to branch out from my usual read.
I tag everyone who wants to do this tag!
xo,
NATH
