After the unfortunately short stay in Oslo, my friend and I headed to Stockholm, the capital city of Sweden. We took trains and the journey was around 5 hours.
Djurgården
We went to visited tourist spots in the city. The first place we visited was Djurgården. It is an island in Stockholm’s city centre. Because the weather was so nice – it was very sunny! – we decided to walk from our hotel and it took us about 30 minutes, if I’m not mistaken.
Skansen
Inside Djurgården, we visited Skansen, an open-air museum and zoo in Sweden. It was quite big so you’ll end up spending a few hours inside. At the open-air museum, we got to see miniature of Sweden, a replica of the country on the 19th century. You got to see craftsmen in traditional dresses and working as shoemakers, silversmiths, bakers, and glass-blowers. You also got to see the demonstration of the job. I didn’t take any pictures because I was too busy absorbing everything.
Inside, there is also an open zoo containing Scandinavian animals such as brown bear, moose, lynx, red fox, reindeer, wolf, and wolverines. I was so bummed I didn’t get to see the wolves because they are one of my favourite animals. I got to see lynx! But I couldn’t take a picture because it was really far away and wasn’t moving at all.
ABBA Museum and Vasa Museum
Other than Skansen, the ABBA Museum is also inside Djurgården so if you are a fan, you should totally check that out!
The last place we went to in Djurgården was the Vasa Museum. It is a maritime museum and it showcases the ship Vasa that sunk in the year 1628. You can learn all the story about the ship in the museum and it was pretty impressive.
Stockholm Royal Palace
My friend and I love visiting royal palaces in various European countries so of course we didn’t miss visiting Stockholm Royal Palace.
Another spot we love in every city, the Old Town! I LOVE THE OLD TOWN. I love exploring the alleys and finding cute shops.
My friend and I didn’t take any public transport going around Stockholm because we enjoyed walking around the city. The city is really pretty and it just feels comfortable to walk around plus the view doesn’t hurt 😉
