Attending book conferences is one of my goals in life. Though it might be a little hard since there are not many book conferences happening – especially foreign authors – in my hometown, Jakarta. I was recently inspired by Eventbrite to write about my own dream author panels! I was super excited because, as book lovers, who doesn’t want to create their own ultimate author panels?
I am a huge fan of many dystopian books and the authors I mentioned in this category are the ones who managed to create such vivid, beautiful worlds that made me want to go there, visit, and just stay there for the rest of my life.
- Sarah J Maas
- Claudia Gray
- Cassandra Clare
- Erin Morgenstern
If there’s any question I could ask, it definitely would be what was the process like for them in terms of creating these worlds and thinking of names for these places because it must take a lot for them to create these perfect worlds. Also often times, dystopian books become a trilogy or a series. Another question I would ask them is how do they plan everything out to make sure that everything is linked.
I’m not sure I’ve shown my love for young adult books with adorable romances on the blog. In fact, it was this particular genre that really got me out of my MASSIVE reading slump about three years ago. There are a few authors whose work I really enjoy and I tried to or have read all of their books. These authors just know the right formula to write a swoon-worthy young romance.
- Stephanie Perkins
- Jennifer E. Smith
- Anna Katmore
- Kasie West
- Rainbow Rowell
I’ve read plenty (by plenty I mean a lot) new adult romances and there are a few authors that I always go back to whenever I’m looking for something new to read. One thing that I tend to find while reading college romances is insta-love. These authors I’m mentioning below just know the perfect balance so that the romance part of the story doesn’t go very quick or very slow, just at the right pace. Also, these authors know how to throw in the dramas their characters have to go through without making it overly dramatic. Plus, they know the formula to write a romance that is both sweet and sexy at the same time.
- Elle Kennedy
- Tillie Cole
- Jennifer L. Armentrout
- Kristen Callihan
I’m not sure how to categorise this panel as because it’s basically just a group of my favourite authors that I wasn’t sure where to include in the categories I’ve mentioned above.
- Jay McLean
- RS Grey
- Emma Hart
- Emma Chase
- Staci Hart
- Krista and Becca Ritchie
These authors write mostly about romance but they write across the genre; from YA to Adult books and I really enjoyed reading them all. I always get super excited when any of these authors release any books because I just know that it’s going to be a good read.
So, there you have it. My long lists of dream author panels 🙂 I actually would love to see any booktubers or book bloggers moderate these panels because I think it would be interesting to have a moderator who is a reader in book panels.
Is there anyone you would want to come and see? What would be your dream author panels?
Also, if you are looking for a resource for you to organise and register for conferences in your local area, check out Eventbrite!
