Bloggers Made Me Read It – Fantasy Series Edition

June 9, 2017

I mentioned in my post about finding new reads that one way of finding new books to read for me is from blogs. There are a lot of books that I decided to read because of the hype surrounding them in the book community or because of the continuous good reviews of the book, both on blogs or Goodreads. So today, I thought I will share with you five series that I decided to read because of the bloggers!

Throne of Glass Series – Sarah J. Maas. I think it’s fair to say that Throne of Glass series is really one of the most hyped books in book blogger community. It’s almost like you’ll find at least one post about the series in almost everyone’s blog. I had my hesitation reading the series at first, but thank God I picked it up because it’s SO good. I was scared that it was too hyped up, but I’d say it deserves all the excitement around the series.

A Court of Thorns and Roses Series – Sarah J. Maas. Another series but Sarah J. Maas but again, ACOTAR series is also very hyped up in the book community. I saw so many bloggers posted about this series. I picked this up after Throne of Glass, and again, thank God I decided to ignore my scepticism and got it because it’s also so good. I talk more about the books in my review for A Court of the Thorns and Roses and A Court of Mist and Fury and I’m currently reading A Court of Wings and Ruin. I’m not ready for this series to end!

The Selection Series – Kiera Cass. We’ve already established that I’m a sucker for royal fictions so I’ve always wanted to read The Selection series when I first saw the book during a bookstore visit. But I was hesitant to take it because it sounds quite dramatic for a young adult romance. Thankfully, the endless posts about the series that I came across on social media changed my mind and I grabbed it.  I’ve only reviewed The Crown on the blog, but I read every book in the series. Honestly, it exceeds my expectations. It wasn’t bad at all! I have mixed feelings on certain books, but overall it was a good reading experience.

The Dark Artifices Series – Cassandra Clare. I’m a fan of The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices. However, I wasn’t in the fandom so I wasn’t very up to date with what’s happening until one day I saw a blogger post about The Dark Artifices. I had mixed feelings when it was first announced because I was surprised that Cassandra Clare would write more books set in the Shadowhunter world and I was worried that it will change my opinion on the world. I saw some people are really against it and I’m not one of them but I was just sceptical on how the book would be. So imagine how surprised I was when I read Lady Midnight and ended up really liking it because it’s actually good! I really enjoy going back to the Shadowhunter world and meet the other characters. I think Cassandra Clare succeeds in bringing us back to the same world but with a different feel to it. Definitely, a pleasant surprise and Lord of Shadows is up on my tbr!

The Lunar Chronicles Series – Marissa Meyer. Another really loved book in the bookish community, the Lunar Chronicles series. I’m probably the only one who hasn’t read the whole series. I’ve only read Cinder so far and I can see why people love it. The twist in classic fairytales are always interesting to me and this one is a really good one! I plan to read the other books in the series when I got the time so they are all also up on my tbr.

Which fantasy series did you read because of bloggers? Let me know in the comment below!

This is very relatable. I’m going to read the ACTOR series because it’s been recommended to me by so many wonderful bloggers, and I’ve been wanting to read it for the longest. The Lunar Chronicles is a great series!!

I’m new to blogging and book reviewing, and I was wondering if you had any tips for newbie bloggers and book reviewers.

If you have the time, please check out my blog @breenysbooks. I’d love any feedback. Have a wonderful day.

There are many stories that hit you once in a while and The Book of Essie is definitely one of them.

The story may start at a slow pace however the writing is suspenseful and will definitely keep the readers engaged and captivated. I couldn’t stop listening to the audiobook, hoping to quickly uncover the truth about the Hicks.

The Book of Essie is very well-written and emotionally driven. I was surprised at how the book just pulled you right in and how invested I was in the story. I was immediately invested in Essie and really rooting for her to get out of the hellhole that is her family.

You’ll learn that there are no secrets that stay in the dark; the truth will always come out in the end. Unfortunately, the Hicks’ truth is the embodiment of the ugly side of human nature. It highlights the ugly truth about this supposedly perfect, loving, and godly family. Their downfall? They put fame and fortune before the wellbeing of their family members.

On the other side of the coin, the story also shows us how the truth can set you free. Through Essie, Rourke, and Liberty Bell stories, we see how much some people are willing to sacrifice and to bring the truth to light in order to set themselves free.

All in all, The Book of Essie is a compelling story. It will stir your emotion and raises questions about our obsession with reality TV and how truthful pop culture actually is.

Full review is up on the blog! You can read it through the link in the bio 🤗

Have you read (or listened) to this book?
  • Happy release day to The Play!

The Briar U series by Elle Kennedy is one of my all-time favourite new adult series. I’ve been reading since the Off-Campus series and my love for these hockey guys have been non-stop ever since. Can’t wait to lock myself in my room and read about Hunter & Demi 🙌🏻 On another note, I talk about my love for new adult fiction on my blog. Link is in the bio for those who want to read. Do you read new adult and do people judge you for reading it?
  • “I want to believe that there’s more. That we could be more. Hell, we could be heroes.” Never have I read a book where the characters are both heroes and villains. In life, one can be both a hero and villain, depending on whose story we’re listening to and I think Vicious did a good job in showing us that through its stories and characters.

Vicious by V.E. Schwab is an interesting read. It feels like a puzzle and the more you read, the more things falls into places. There are depths in the characters; not always through their words but also actions and interactions.

I believe that Vicious can be the perfect fall read, especially during Halloween season 🎃 👻

  • Starting October with a non-fiction 🤓

One of my reading goals in 2019 is to read more non-fiction. We’re 10 months into 2019 and I haven’t reach my goal yet. I find it hard to find a non-fiction that I really want to read as I use reading as a way to escape to fictional worlds.

If you can recommend me one non-fiction to read, what book do you think is a must-read? 🤗
