Synopsis

BOOK REVIEW (1).png

Lucas Tatcher has always been my enemy.

It’s been a decade since I’ve seen him, but our years on opposite coasts were less of a lasting peace and more of a temporary cease-fire. Now that we’re both back in our small town, I know Lucas expects the same old war, but I’ve changed since high school – and from the looks of it, so has he.

The arrogant boy who was my teenage rival is now a chiseled doctor armed with intimidating good looks. He is Lucas Tatcher 2.0, the new and improved version I’ll be competing with in the workplace instead of the schoolyard.

I’m not worried; I’m a doctor now too, board-certified and sexy in a white coat. It almost feels like winning will be too easy – until Lucas unveils a tactic neither of us has ever used before; sexual warfare.

The day he pushes me up against the wall and presses his lips to mine, I can’t help but wonder if he’s filling me with passion or poison. Every fleeting touch is perfect torture. With every stolen kiss, my walls crumble a little more. After all this time, Lucas knows exactly how to strip me of my defenses, but I’m in no hurry to surrender.

Knowing thy enemy has never felt so good.

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of RS Grey’s works. I really loved all her works so I was super excited for this book.

“Roses are red,

Daisy is you,

I heard you came back,

And I did too”

In Anything You Can Do, RS Grey wrote about the rivalry between two childhood frenemies, Lucas and Daisy. You go to see snippets of Daisy and Lucas’ childhood rivalry that lasts until they went to university. When they met again in the practice, the rivalry seemed to cease from Lucas’ side because he was very eager to work together with Daisy. That only made Daisy even more determined to beat Lucas because she still couldn’t let go of all those fights and competitions they had years ago. As time goes, she realized that Lucas is not putting any fights and she started to realize that she couldn’t even remember why she hated him so much.

I admit that in the beginning of the book, I wasn’t sure if I like Daisy. She comes across childish at times and there are just moments where I found her annoying. Her attitude only made me root harder for Lucas! I genuinely wish she would stop with the whole competition things at certain parts – but at other times, they can be super hilarious. Not gonna lie, some of her antics made me laugh out loud. My favourite side of Daisy is when she’s attending patients. I can see that she is dedicated to her job and seems to be a good doctor.

Lucas is the character I wish we get to see more. He actually sounds pleasant to be around and he was always nice to Daisy and just deals with Daisy’s competitive nature throughout the book so I didn’t get why Daisy hated him. I wish the book was written more in dual POV because I would really love to hear more from Lucas. We do get those emails from Lucas that was never sent to Daisy *SQUEAL* Those emails, girls! They are super sweet and swoon-worthy – I keep wondering what would happen if he actually sent it to Daisy. Also, there are moments I want him to just set the record straight a little sooner instead of entertaining Daisy.

“The last two people who knew Lucas and Daisy were going to end up together forever were Lucas and Daisy”

Overall, it is an enjoyable humorous read. It’s unputdownable and the end of book made me felt giddy! I love a good hate-to-love romance stories and this is definitely one of them. If you are looking for a romcom novel with a good banter, look no further. I can assure you that RS Grey is the queen of banters and you wouldn’t be disappointed! 😉

xo,

Naths
