Brilliant. If anyone asks me to describe All Your Twisted Secrets, that is the one word I’d use. It’s suspense at every corner and will make you turn the pages as fast as you could.
I thought we’d get another One Of Us Is Lying but I was wrong and I’m glad. The beginning of the book was very gripping and reeled you in straight away. The book is written in flashbacks to various events leading up to whatever’s happening in the present. Everything is told from the POV of Amber Prescott. Amber loves composing music and she would do whatever it takes to be accepted into USC’s music program.
When stories are set in high school, there will always be friendship and relationship drama. Amber was not part of the popular group. However she soon found herself being in one after she decided to convince Sasha, the head of drama club, to let the drama club perform Romeo and Juliet accompanied by her original compositions.
What follows soon is Amber juggling so many priorities; her long-time friendship with Priya, her new friendship with Sasha, her relationship with Robbie, and finding closure with her former friend, Diego. Despite everything that’s going on in her life, Amber’s main priority is the same: Get into USC Music Program. Of course as we all know, when things get interesting, things also start to fall apart.
In terms of the present story, Amber and her friends, Sasha, Priya, Diego, Robbie, and one other classmate Scott found themselves invited into a dinner by the mayor. The invitation suggested that they are going to receive scholarships from the mayor. However, the mayor never came and instead, they had to fight for their life.
There is nothing much I can say about the plot without spoiling the story. What I can tell you though is that the pieces were put together brilliantly. For me, I really wanted to know why are these six students get chosen. There must be relations and links between each person, right? And of course the biggest question of all is who did it? I have to say that the end blew me away. I would never guess the person who did it. BRILLIANT!
After all, it was a fun read for those of you who love YA mystery books. It’s full of lies and you will question every single character. The characters have many layers and there are countless twist and turns that peel the layer off of each character. This is also one reason why it was hard to find who was behind it.
Beyond the mystery, the author also included many topics and she executed it perfectly! The book explores the topic of bullying, peer-pressure, suicide, gun violence, and drug abuse which are common issues among high school students. Diana Urban did an amazing job in weaving these issues into the story in a realistic and relatable way. It was phenomenal and if you decide to pick this up, get ready for a crazy ride because All of Your Twisted Secrets certainly delivers!

Welcome to dinner, and again, congratulations on being selected. Now you must do the selecting.
What do the queen bee, star athlete, valedictorian, stoner, loner, and music geek all have in common? They were all invited to a scholarship dinner, only to discover it’s a trap. Someone has locked them into a room with a bomb, a syringe filled with poison, and a note saying they have an hour to pick someone to kill … or else everyone dies.
Amber Prescott is determined to get her classmates and herself out of the room alive, but that might be easier said than done. No one knows how they’re all connected or who would want them dead. As they retrace the events over the past year that might have triggered their captor’s ultimatum, it becomes clear that everyone is hiding something. And with the clock ticking down, confusion turns into fear, and fear morphs into panic as they race to answer the biggest question: Who will they choose to die?
